    1. Honeywood

The newest restaurant in this list, Honeywood is famous Kentucky chef Ouita Michel's latest endeavor and largest restaurant, featuring table service, a stylish bar and fresh, locally sourced food. Michel is well-known for restaurants such as Holly Hill Inn and Wallace Station in Midway, the latter of which has even been featured in Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives as one of Guy Fieri’s favorite burger joints. Honeywood, which is a more upscale experience than Wallace Station (though just as tasty!) boasts fresh locally sourced, and creatively prepared food with a strong nod to Kentucky's food traditions. This year for Valentine’s Day, Honeywood will be offering cajun-inspired specials, including an 8-ounce beef filet, shrimp and lobster étouffée, vegetable gumbo, and shrimp and avocado Garibaldi. Dinner starts at 5 pm. Call or go online for reservations.

    2. Shakespeare and Co.

Chances are, if you've lived in Lexington for a while, you know what Shakespeare and Co is.

It's easily one of the most popular restaurants in town. And how could it not be? This popular Middle Eastern restaurant has only three locations in the United States, all three of which are here in Lexington, Kentucky!

Shakespeare and Co's downtown location offers a unique dining experience in the heart of the city, combining the atmosphere of a captivating, eclectic boutique with delicious Mediterranean food. The Chinoe Road location offers much of the same - the same delicious food, excellent service, and charming boutique feel - but in nestled within the upscale Chinoe neighborhood. And the Hamburg location, the newcomer to the group, is perfect for a quick lunch or a nice dinner when you want to do some shopping in the Hamburg area at the same time.

Perhaps the best part about all of the Shakespeare and Co locations are their decor - the second you walk in, you'll be transported straight back to Victorian England. The walls are painted in bright pinks and blues, traditional oil portraits cover the walls, and glittery lamps scatter atmospheric light across the room. If this is sounding a little too much like your grandmother's tacky living room, don't worry. Shakespeare takes the Victorian theme and modernizes it, making it charming but not gaudy. And so what if it's a little over the top? It's not supposed to be modern or subtle; it's supposed to be eclectic and interesting.

Enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Shakespare while choosing from recipes like Mediterranean Saj (flat bread) with fillings like spicy beef sausage, halloumi cheese; crêpes stuffed with caramel and almonds, lemon and sugar, or smoked salmon, seasoned cream, and mixed greens; quinoa pasta, with smoked salmon, pine nuts, pesto and creme fraiche topped with fresh fennel; and more. This café's cozy, old-world feel provides a charming contrast to the energy of Lexington and is perfect whenever you're craving something a little more unique than typical American fast food fare.

    3. Tulip Bistro

Got someone you're trying to impress?

Whether it's a date, a family member, or an out of town friend, taking them somewhere nice for lunch or dinner is key to making them feel impressed with your town.

If you're looking for the showy, impressive restaurant to bring your picky guest, Tulip Bistro is there for you. It is an upscale casual restaurant serving European fusion fare & cocktails, with garden-like patio seating in the heart of Downtown Lex. It's definitely a little fancier than your typical fare (and definitely more expensive), but sometimes you need to treat yourself! For a nice date or simply for an opportunity to feel luxurious, this is it!

Some of the best dishes you'll find here at Tulip Bistro are the Shrimp Étouffée, with creole style, stone cross andouille, lemon basmati, and fried okra, the Seared Pacific Barramundi, with white bean succotash, blood orange and frisée, port, and browned butter, and the Cast Iron Steak Fries, with a 12.oz blank angus ribeye, bourbon smoked pepper, truffle steak fries, and charred Broccolini. It's also a great place to go for lunch or a drink, if you're aiming for something a little less expensive. Pro tip: go for the Tulip Burger and the Kentucky Mule cocktail.

    4. Rodney's on Broadway

Good restaurants are a must for any expanding town.

So given that Georgetown, Kentucky is one of the fastest growing areas in the state in terms of population and economy, it should be no surprise that it is brimming with delicious restaurants with a full range of flavors and styles. There's something for everyone here - including fine dining, when you’ve got someone you want to impress.

If that’s what you’re looking for, then Rodney's on Broadway is for you.

The premier restaurant in Georgetown for fine dining, Rodney's is the place you go when you want a truly fabulous evening and something a little fancier than standard diner fare. Enjoy a delectable meal, cocktails, and upscale service in this charming older building located near central downtown.

Offering delicious dishes not often found in a small town such as as roasted duck with a port wine reduction, twice-grilled lamb chops with roasted garlic mint demi-glace, and grilled chicken pasta with prosciutto, asiago, and white wine garlic sauce, Rodney's is one restaurant you cannot miss, whether you are a Georgetown local or a visitor.

    5. Goodfellas Pizzeria

Are you or your significant other not particularly into the whole fine dining affair? That’s okay! Not everyone is into that scene, and sit-down restaurants are always super busy on holidays  anyway. If you’re looking for a more lowkey restaurant, consider a pizza joint. Pizza is a universal pleaser when it comes to food - even the pickiest of eaters can usually go for a slice. At Goodfellas, they offer classic, oversized New York-style pizzas right here in Lexington. It's cheap, casual, and delicious - everything a pizza should be. Try out speciality pizzas like the Goodfella, with pepperoni, sausage, beef, and bacon; the Vinny, with ricotta cheese, garlic, mozzarella, and white sauce; the Wiseguy, with green pepper, onion, mushroom, olive, and tomato; or craft you own pizza while choosing from a vast catalog of meats, cheeses, and vegetables. It's not hard to see why this restaurant has become known throughout the city for being one of the best places for a quick lunch. Just know that there's very little indoor seating, so either plan to eat outside or make other arrangements.
