To Do: Shop the Night Market This Weekend
The summertime market season is in full swing!
Every first Friday of the month is The Night Market, the party animal of markets in Lexington. With food trucks galore, local artists and vendors, non-profits and live music, the Night Market is truly the ideal street fair. Located on Bryan Avenue and North Limestone, the Night Market has worked hard to hold vendors spaces for those who live and work in the North Lexington neighborhoods. This exclusivity allows the neighborhood to truly showcase and uplift each other’s endeavors.
While primarily serving as a platform for neighborhood businesses, artists, and nonprofits to grow their business, the Night Market also highlights the creativity in the community. To make the Night Market possible, the 700 block of Bryan Ave is temporarily closed to traffic on the day of the market. The street is lined on both sides by vendor booths, and the street is transformed to give it a beautiful, artistic vibe through lighting, planters, and temporary art installations. On both ends of the market, there are food vendors from Northside restaurants, food trucks, and folks aspiring to start new culinary businesses.
In the parking lot just off of Bryan Ave, there is a beer draft trailer and biergarten courtesy of Northside brewery West Sixth Brewing, and live music from local and regional bands. But what's better than that is the fact that 50% of proceeds from beer sales at the Night Market will be used not only to support the market itself, allowing it to continue on a monthly basis, but also other community-building projects in the Northside.
