Top 5 Restaurants in Danville KY

Top 5 Restaurants in Danville KY

    Jan 15, 2018

Danville, KY is one of those hidden gems in this state - maybe not as populous as Louisville or Lexington, maybe not as famous as Frankfort, but still a pretty neat place to check out.

It's quite a bustling little city, with attractions such as the highest-ranked private college in Kentucky, Centre; the annual BBQ fest; and the Wilderness Trail Distillery. Folks who live there have nothing but great things to say about the town -  that it's quiet, though not too far from cities like Lexington; that the people are as kind as polite as can be; and that even for a smaller town, the food is amazing!

Too often, in some small towns, one may find that there are a few key restaurants that all the locals frequent - a bar, a café, a burger joint for example -  but due to loyalty to these handful of old establishments, new restaurants struggle to get going.  This is far from the case in Danville. Danville has plenty of amazing restaurants with every type of food under the sun. So check out our list of the top 5 restaurants in Danville KY based on what locals and visitors alike have said!

    1. Bluegrass Pizza and Pub

The Bluegrass Pizza and Pub has proclaimed themselves to be "Danville's premiere pizza restaurant," and they're easily one of the best local eateries. They've been rated #3 by TripAdvisor as one of the best restaurants in all of town, with glowing reviews praising their New York-style pizza and draft beers.  That's not always an easy thing to find, especially in a small KY town, but lucky for residents of Danville and anyone in the mood for a road trip, the rock music-themed decor of Bluegrass Pizza isn't hard to find - it's conveniently located on Main Street in historic downtown.

Offering a wide variety of pastries from pies to cakes and everything in between, this local establishment is well-known for the delicious scent that comes wafting out the door whenever you walk by. This family-owned bakery always has something cooking, especially around the holidays where you can find pumpkin-flavored donuts in October and Santa-shaped cookies in December.

    3. Jane Barleycorn's Market and Bar

For dinner, check out Jane Barleycorn. This restaurant is one of the best that Danville has to offer in terms of upscale dining, with fresh flowers, beautifully prepared food, and first-class service. Located in the heart of downtown Danville, this place is certainly not lacking in charm or architectural intrigue. With a huge selection of Kentucky bourbon and dishes such as smoked salmon crèpe and coq au vin, it's definitely not a place you'll want to miss.

    5. Tut's

How many places in the US can you find that will sell you authentic Egyptian food? Now, how many places in the South do you think you can find? And in Kentucky, do you expect that there could be any at all? I wouldn't either, but Danville is full of surprises, and Tut's is one of them. Serving authentic Egyptian food right here in small town Kentucky, Tut's will be an experience that you're not likely to find anywhere else around town. I'd liken it most closely to "Mediterranean" food (which makes sense, Egypt is of course on the Mediterranean), so you can expect to find fare such as gyros, falafel, hummus, and moussaka (an eggplant or potato-based dish with ground meat, not unlike ravioli). Definitely check out the menu if you're looking for something a little more adventurous!
