PAIGE 2: A Be Better Event

PAIGE 2: A Be Better Event

    Sep 19, 2018

    Thought provoking.

Just a few buzz words we heard at the cocktail hour following the main event. September 12th, 2018 was the big day. The PAIGE event was created last year to bring like minded people together at a beautiful venue for good food, heartening speakers and to honor our core values.

This year was no different as we gathered in the exquisite auditorium at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center. Our event planning committee sought out speakers who embodied these core values and could demonstrate to the audience that simplifying your business by embracing who you are and not getting distracted by disruptors or all the bells and whistles technology can offer is much easier than you think.

    Passion. Authenticity. Inclusion. Growth. Excellence.

"They are more than just words. They are a style that is unique to the way many Realtors are practicing real estate today," Tom Simmons, broker/owner of Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate® The Good Life Group said of our core values in the event opener video.

Rob Commodari not only shared his love for reading and told us inspiring stories about passion driving him but he also asked the audience to step back and ask yourself; What is passion and what does that mean to you? Once you figure out what makes you passionate you'll be excited to get out bed each morning. You'll have a fire and drive that is contagious and you'll become the role model your kids need.

Josh Forster opened a lot of eyes and minds with his speech on Authenticity. We've all heard that your WHY in life should drive everything you do. But how do you find it? Should it be specific? He shared his story of how he found his and it made us realize: the bigger your why, the bolder your decision making will be. The easier it will be for you to say no to things that don't align with your why. And leading with your authentic self will create relationships that are deeper and more connected. "I love my plumber. It's weird to say but it's true. Why? Because he has 4 kids around the same age as mine. I saw a lanyard on his key chain the first time he came over that had the charity I support on it. He takes time out of his busy day to talk and connect with me. Plus he's great at what he does. I wouldn't dream of using anyone else."

Tanya Reu-Narvaez has made it her life's work to diversify more companies, communities and cultures but her stories made us realize that we still have a long way to go. As the Vice President of Human Resources for Realogy Corporation, the largest publicly traded real estate company, she shared ways we can all make a difference to help diversify the real estate industry. "Be the change you wish to see in this world," is the quote she shared that reminds us, small changes every single day in our communities can add up quickly.

Heather Roxburgh's story left jaws dropped and a fresh sense of "I've got this!" echoing in the auditorium. Growth has been the theme of her entire life and her no nonsense approach to life's challenges were just what we didn't know we needed to hear. Not only has she overcame huge obstacles in her personal life but she started her real estate career with no experience in 2006 and was able to grow exponentially year after year during the big crash. "I didn't know a good market from a bad market so I just got up every day and went to work." She also attributes her continued growth and success to coaching. She has a business coach, Buffini coach, life coach, and personal trainer who all keep her grounded, balanced and focused.

Sherry Chris, our fearless leader and CEO of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate® was the obvious choice for our excellence speaker. She not only shared tips to infuse excellence in our every day business but revealed her vision and the backstory of how PAIGE was created. She started with Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate® when they had nothing and 10 years later has built it into a brand that continues to raise the bar for the real estate industry.

We took the cocktail hour as a time to swap aha! moments with each other over good food and spirits. September feels like a month of change. As the weather and our schedules begin to change this is a great time to reflect on the year so far, refocus to finish strong and plan ahead for next year. We hope you will join us for PAIGE 3 in 2019!
