Do you enjoy nature and scenic views? Visit the Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve. You can enjoy bridle paths, walking, jogging, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and nature trails over acres of woodland, meadows, rock shoreline and salt marsh. The park has beautiful gardens, excellent fishing and scuba diving by permit. For a little history, in 1921 Marshall Field III purchased 1750 acres of Lloyd Neck to create one large estate. Want to take the kids to the park? Heckscher Park is a favorite for many families. The park is home to Huntington's Annual Fall Festival, Summer Arts Festival, and Spring Tulip Festival. Its pond, play areas and beautiful gardens provide a tranquil rest spot in the midst of busy downtown Huntington, a few minutes' walk away. Need to take time-out from work? You can take a tranquil walk around the pond (as I often do...along with some staff from nearby Huntington Hospital). Need a place to walk and give your dog some exercise? The Coindre Hall Dog Park is known as "dog lover's heaven". A beautiful setting behind the Coindre Hall Chateau, the property runs up to Huntington Harbor. If you need a little extra "me time" there are there are a few places I like to frequent to get away from the "hustle and bustle". For the spa experience I love to go to Hand & Stone located on Wall Street. I am a member there and love their spa services. Meditation is an important part of my life, the Kadampa Meditation Center on New York Ave. offers a space for centering oneself. In the winter months I also enjoy the amenities of the Montauk Salt Cave, helps when the body is feeling run down. When I need to get "dolled up" my "go to" hair stylist is Jessica Lynne's Studio on New York Ave. By appointment only the hair salon offers the kind of individual attention client needs. Are you an art aficionado? The Heckscher Museum of Art serves the community of Long Island through the presentation of great art and art education programs. Beaux arts building with 2,500-piece collection & exhibits focusing on landscape & modernist works. Located on the grounds of Hecksher Park, the Chapin Rainbow Outdoor amphitheater hosts the Annual Huntington Summer Arts Festival, along with a variety of other performance events presented by various community groups. Are you ready for a night out? How about checking out a show? Whether you're in the mood for Entertainment, Comedy, Concerts, or Boxing, the Paramount offers a well variety. It is a 2-level concert hall with a nightclub vibe. Iv'e been to several shows, I think my best New Year's was celebrated there. Conveniently located close to home, no need to take a long train ride to the city! Now let's talk about my favorite subject, food! I'm a foodie at heart and love dining at many of the restaurants that Huntington has to offer. It's really a question about what you're in the mood for? There's pretty much something for anyone. In the mood for Sushi or Asian Fusion? My Sushi favorite is Kashi and for a Poke Bowl I love going to T.O.A. Can't go wrong if you choose Mexican, Besito and Pancho Villa's have got it covered, both have great atmosphere and great food...ask to try the Guac. I have two favorite brunch spots here as well, The Shed and Hatch. The list could go on, perhaps I'll save that for a blog post.
