"Pip" Julie Klein
Sit and talk with Pip Klein about buying or selling a home and you get the feeling that she’s been in this business her whole life. However, this natural “people person” didn’t enter the game until 2010, when she joined the Green Team in the newly created role of Marketing Manager. "It turned out I already had a listing (my late parents' home) that was on the market with another firm at the time," remembers Klein. "My broker said I had the personality and encouraged me to get my license so I could sell it myself. It was great advice and at an age when my peers were contemplating retiring, I found myself in an exciting new career -- that has now lasted over a decade!"
A native from the “real” Jersey shore, Klein and her family moved to Warwick when she was in the sixth grade. Her parents were well-known local entrepreneurs, the late Ed & Phyllis Klein. Together they made a huge impact on the area where her Dad was a newspaper editor & publisher and her mom, a creative artist and quilter. "My grandfather Julius (who I was officially named for, but I've been called PIP all my life) was in real estate," explains Klein. "I must have inherited the real estate gene from him!" After graduating with honors from both Warwick Valley High School and the University of Vermont, she went west and subsequently lived and worked across the country, including: Santa Barbara, CA; Aspen, CO; and New York City. Her varied career embraced publishing, writing, sales, promotion and special events. Past employers have included the Santa Barbara News Press, Aspen Magazine, Westinghouse Broadcasting, the Radio Advertising Bureau, Hudson Valley Business Journal and the Goshen Chamber of Commerce. Klein also performs with her husband Bob Grawi as “The Gravikord Duo,” with Klein on flute and percussion, and Grawi on his unique electric harp, the Gravikord. Their son, Ben, a graduate of RIT, works full time in Silicon Valley and has been an inspiration for her to keep current with changing technology.
