The floors are perfectly flat, the foundation steady in the way only timeless work can endure. The preserved plaster walls have provided warmth in winter and coolness in summer for over a hundred years. This is my childhood home. Its strength has become a metaphor for what it means to be a good human. The home changed me, and with its lessons, I changed the home. I made it smarter and voice-controlled, designed zero-entry thresholds, and restored it with intention, care, and respect. As I enter the next step of my life, I’m searching for a new steward. Although historic, the home’s infrastructure is entirely renewed: all-new electrical and plumbing, Lutron Caséta smart lighting, natural gas, on-demand hot water, and a new HVAC system.
