A prominent Castine home with a rich history. Built in 1819 for Joseph Bryant, a merchant and ship owner who dealt in real estate and the West Indian trade. The house was sold in 1836 to another local ship owner, Hezekiah Williams, who also served in the Twenty-Ninth and Thirtieth Congresses (1845-1849; Williams was the second of two Castine residents to be elected to the U.S. Congress). The house has been extensively updated in the new millennium and is now a comfortable home with modern conveniences and classic details. On the main floor are two traditional parlors and a dining room in the front of the house, and an open chef's kitchen, eating area and family room in the back.
