FOG ISLAND - A remarkable 55± acre island with 6,900'± of shoreline just off the east side of Isle au Haut. Despite the absence of a dock, the island is readily accessible with multiple potential landing spots. About one-quarter of the island is an open moorland featuring a freshwater (brackish) pond. A small flock of sheep has called Fog Island home for many years, adding to its unique character. The island offers sweeping western views across Isle au Haut and northeast toward Mount Desert Island. Natural features include rugged shoreline, gravel beaches, well-kept paths, a dug well, and a mooring. Conservation easements with Maine Coast Heritage Trust help preserve its natural beauty while allowing for residential use.
