''High Camp'' is an oasis in the hamlet of West Camp, located 3 miles north of Saugerties Village. It was settled by British Queen Anne in 1710 who transported German Palatines and their families to the site in order to cut timber to supply naval stores for the British fleet. Many of their descendants still reside in the area today. Wend down this country road to a private tree-lined cul-de-sac originally constructed in 1969 by the Patterson family. Here, you'll discover ''High Camp House'', one of the last examples of Lincoln Log craft homes.
